Project Description:
Renovation and expansion of the Dorchester District Courthouse included preserving the original classical character of the original head house and merging a 3-story, structural steel addition to create a 76,000 square foot courthouse on 1.5 acres within a densely populated residential/commercial neighborhood. The project required extensive masonry restoration to its existing façade that contained granite, precast, limestone and brick materials. Additionally, salvaged and restored building materials were: Judge’s lobby mahogany wall paneling, bookcases and courtroom chandeliers. The completed building included: new entry with granite stairs, portico supported by multiple ornate columns topped with classical corinthian capitals; six courtrooms; 18 detention cells and various administration chambers and offices.
Jack Grant Responsibility/Specific Participation:
- Vice President of Operations duties at PCC during construction
- Also, Project Manager from initiation through closeout
- Directly responsible and accountable for all aspects of the project including managing budget, costs, scheduling, subcontractor performance and construction quality
- Participated in formulating, submitting and negotiating a $1 million+, one-year request for equitable adjustment time extension delay claim
